About Me

My name is Anthony J. Sevigny, and I enjoy fixing and creating things. Since I was young I've always had a talent for being able to take things apart and re-assemble them. I enjoy learning how things work, not just seeing how they work but fully understanding them. To me, there's just something special about being able to fix things that aren't working right. When I got into computers this talent naturally extended itself out to both the hardware and software environment. The majority of my computer knowledge is self-taught.

I started with HTML, and was fascinated on how I could use what I learn to create these pages, but I couldn't stop there. I went on to learn about SHTML to make pages more dynamic, and then CSS to make formatting them easier. The feeling of accomplishing something such as a web page made me proud. I moved on towards PHP to build bigger websites, and of course, MySQL.

Curious on how websites actually were run, I went on to learn about Apache server configuring. Unfortunately I was disappointed with the performance of Apache on Windows back in those years, so I discovered Linux. I've experimented with several distributions, including SuSE, Debian, Gentoo and of course, Ubuntu. I experimented a lot with IPTABLES to replace my router with an older computer I had. For several years I used this computer both as my web development server, wireless router, and internet gateway with fully operational Network Address Translation services.

Throughout my discoveries I've learned much about computer hardware, all kinds of software, and networking. Covering a range of Microsoft Windows applications to some Linux environments as well. These skills have proved to be very effective in troubleshooting and providing technical support. I've since provided technical support for many users and became recognized as a valuable resource to other technicians for advice.

About This Site

This site was done up quickly so I could get my resume and other information readily accessible from the internet. My goal was to make everything simple. Admittedly I'm not the best designer and this design was done by myself, I prefer more of the programming part. This site implements a bit of PHP 5 and it is XHTML 1.0 Strict valid and CSS 2.1 valid.
